SUCCESS IN A PIECE

Have you ever thought of success without thinking of failure? You can never give what you don't have, that is were EXperience is the BEst teacher comes in.

actress and talk radio show host
Everyone wants to succeed in anything they do, even if its to hurt people. But do you think of the lost, the price to pay, the pain, the consequence before the result and the gain form it all? Like one of my boss, who is ranked among the 250 most influential women in the world by Richtopia, by name Alex Okoroji will always say "you have to do your home work first" (do your personal research, find out facts before reaching out to whoever it is you want to.

You can never be better than your preparation!...............

Messi and C. Rolando are two great footballers of our time and they have both set great records for themselves and the world. Some say Messi is talent while Rolando is hard work, no doubt. But I tell you, it's much more than that. If Messi is talented, then he should fold his hands, eat and sleep all day, without working hard, I bet you even my great grand father in his grave will do better then him. It is all about hard work. Then get to work and stop killing your talents with laziness, excuses, fake-life and all manners of selfish greed.

First step for every young talented creative out there, be it music, acting, dancing, writing, soccer, tennis, what ever it is you create. First is to discover himself/herself, practice and keep practicing your craft, control self, character, human management and be open to more creative ideas. Then look for standard platforms like COSON (for musical content creators <composers, artists, performers and all> in Nigeria) to get a copyright protection over whatever it is you create. There are several platform out there, depending on your interest.

Good use of social media and other promotional pages/platform is very good. There is one very unanswerable question that bothers many of the young artists out there.

Can I give out my songs for free?.....Well, that depends on you, what you want, who you intend to reach and how you created the song. For me the best answer is leaving you to figure that out but if you got the song for free and did a professional recording for free and a free promotion.....then you can decide what you want.

becelonia free kick

Here is the biggest challenge. The fear of failing, wanting an already made path, misuse of time and resources. I have met so many great people in my little life, directly or indirectly, one on one or other wise.....and I noticed one common thing among all of them, I mean each of them have one thing in common, HARD WORK.
They are always the last to go to bed and the first to wakeup, they hardly watch TV....please don't get me wrong, they do only when necessary, and I'm talking from experience.

Why would you sit down doing nothing when you've got so much deposited in you? I charge you to wakeup, define yourself and do away with all forms of laziness.....

Just a piece of me.

Also speaking about the forthcoming Red Carpet Tribute Night in honour of the great Ras Kimono, the COSON General Manager, Mr. Chinedu Chukwuji, said, “Ras Kimono was not just a COSON member, he was a 100% committed COSON member, totally dedicated to the COSON cause. As a hyper creative person, he fought against anything that will destroy COSON as he saw the organization as a watershed development in our country and an important legacy for the Nigerian creative industry. No one should forget that until he passed on, Ras Kimono was a key member of the COSON Board and stood shoulder-to-shoulder with our Chairman, Chief Tony Okoroji through every challenge. Chief Okoroji was one of the last persons Kimono spoke to on his sick bed, before he passed on.

“The COSON Board he left behind, has held a special meeting in his honour and has instructed that the magnificent COSON House that Kimono contributed to building must host a memorable event in his honour to celebrate this one of a kind Nigerian artiste as he sets out on his last journey out of Lagos. All hands are on deck at COSON , the organization he loved with all his heart, to ensure that Kimono is buried like the king that he was”

my young team of very talented creative artistes, we have kept the essential elements of the great song and brought in a fresh new feel to give what we call ‘Oriaku (New School)’ a new groove. Its been 3 days since the passing on of the great reggae iconic legend Ras Kimono, many have not been able to get over the shock and pain. Eever since that day COSON House, the headquarters of Copyright Society of Nigeria in Ikeja has been flooded with condolence messages from family, friends, fans and all lovers of quality music. There have been so many entries in the condolence register opened at COSON House, with flags flying at half-mast.

Amongst the many recent messages received by COSON is that of the Honorable Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Geoffrey Onyeama who described his death as ‘A very sad loss for the country’.
It will be recalled that Kimono was in the delegation of the COSON Board which was in Abuja in January to confer Mr Onyeama with the Copyright Medal of Honour, which he showed great appreciation for.
Ras Kimono during his lifetime was an unwavering member of COSON and a dedicated activist with respect to the independence and survival of the Nigerian musician.
COSON has said that Kimono will be buried like the big star that he was and that his legacy will not be allowed to die

ras kimono, coson week.

A quick throwback: Ras Kimono
On May 10, 2018, a day after Ras Kimono's 60th birthday, thousands of COSON members from around the country gathered at Sheraton Hotel, Lagos for the Annual General Meeting.
During the AGM, the icon Ras Kimono was celebrated and a cake cut to celebrate the reggae toaster at 60.
The news of his sudden demise on June 10, 2018 exactly a month after hit us hard. We really haven't come to terms with it yet.

Chief Tony Okoroji Talks About Ras Kimono

photo, love, hate, red, blue, black tree

How much do you care about the people around you? Is a very big question that some still can't find an answer to.
What is your relationship with them? Is another one that others can't define.

It is said that we don't know those that loves us, we only care about the ones we love, and you don't know how important it is, till you lose it.

It is a great shock and pain to everyone at Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON), to the friends, fans, family and the entire nation on the passing on of a music legend and icon Okwudili ‘Ras Kimono Onwubuya Elumelu.

Many of us never had the time to personally reach out to this music legend and icon. We give glory to God because he lived a life worth emulating.

Here is what the Chairman/President of Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON), Chief Tony Okoroji said.

coson, ras kimono, photo

"I am still in rude shock, says Okoroji"

When the news of the sudden demise of Okwudili ‘Ras Kimono Onwubuya Elumelu hit the Nigerian airwaves like a thunderbolt during a torrential rainfall, so many disregarded this castatrophy as mere rumours as it is has been the case for many of his kind in time past.
But it became an undeniable fact when indeed throng of the decease’s friends and associated visited the Lagoon Hospital in the upscale area of Ikoyi to see and pay their due respect to the Rhumba Style crooner. When interviewed by press men, Sir Shina Peters (SSP) described the late hit maker as ‘the best thing ever to happen to the music industry’ and so it really is, as the reggae icon as constantly remained as one of the few living legends of the musical revolution of the 90s.

His profundity on stage, his affableness with all and classical artistry has been the weapon of his relevance ever since his debut entry onto the Nigerian musical scene since the 90s till 10th June 2018 when he took the last bow.
According to Chief Tony Okoroji who once held the helms of affairs at Performing Musician Society of Nigeria (PMAN), and currently the Chairman of the vibrant Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON) in a statement made available to the public, he described the late Ras Kimono as not just’ being a great musician but a fantastic person, this is absolutely devastating’, he said.
Boad of directors, coson, members, phot

Since the ill-fated news broke out, the Nigerian media terrain has been awashed with myriad of tributes to the maestro. The death no doubt is a great loss to the entire music industry in Nigeria and an irreplacable loss to the Rastafarian followership worldwide.
He will be greatly missed.
